The second round of races for the Ronnie
Richardson Sail Trophy was contested on Sunday 30th March under cloudy
skies, with a hint of rain, and a very light to non-existent wind.
It is ironical that
whenever our yachts take to the water for a race the wind dies - sod's law
comes to mind!!!!! But I must say that the breeze, for that's all that it
was, did put in an appearance at times in all the races.
The water level on the lake
was high, in fact it was flooded, in the area where the races are normally
contested but thanks to the bailiff's co-operation we were allowed to
operate in waters generally for the exclusive use of the anglers. Our thanks
go to the Angling Society's bailiff for his understanding of our plight and
his permission to sail in their waters.
In Class A we had four
skippers contesting the races and the honours on the day went to Nicholas
Clayton with two wins - Dave Tucker was the victor in the other race.
Class B had nine skippers
out on the water - Anthony Sisley won the first two races and Chris. Harding
took the honours in the third.
Class C, for marbleheads,
only had one skipper present and he had a comfortable afternoons sailing to
take the honours in all three races - yes, we made him actually take part in
each race.
The leading position after
two rounds is as follows:
