Over the winter months
considerable time has been spent regarding the format for the racing for the
subject trophy. The influx of much larger yachts, including marbleheads,
influenced the thought process for the format to be used during 2008.
Besides the implementation of basic rules and a modification of our basic
course to suit the larger yachts the most significant change has been the
introduction of three classes.
Class A is for yachts under
950 mm. long, i.e.. Victorias, Fairwinds, Northwind 28" and 36",
etc. Class A yachts will only race against Class A yachts.
Class B is for yachts over
950 mm. long, ie. Voyagers, Emirates, etc. but excluding marbleheads. Also
Class B yachts will only race against Class B yachts.
Class C is for marbleheads and they also will only race against themselves.
A penalty system, the same
as previous years, is in operation for Classes A and B - Class C
yachts will, at the moment, race head to head with no handicap.
At the end of the year a
trophy will be awarded to the winner of each Class and the Ronnie Richardson
Sail Trophy will be presented to the year's most deserving skipper.

After one round the first
five positions per class are as follows: There are no results for Class C
because there were no marblehead skippers present. The photographs
below have been kindly provided by Alan and Debbie and provide an opportunity
for all to see these fantastic models in action.
