Norwich Model Boat Club - Warship Day -  16th May 2010 - Gallery

On the 16th of May Cygnets MBC were invited to attend Norwich MBC's Warship Day by Richard Thurston our host of the day.  The contingency from Cygnets MBC set off nice and early at 06h00 for the 2.5hr drive. Alan Noble was good enough to transport HMS Kent and Peter Clayton the contingency also included Richard Jeffrey and his mother, and Paul Dengate, his wife and daughter.

The first picture below shows Peter and Alan setting up HMS Kent the remain some nice detail shots of HMS Kent, just before she set sail.

One of the reasons for attending Norwich MBC was to partake with a ships of similar stature as HMS Kent, Richard Thurston has built a model of HMS Ocean, you can check out all the details at Norwich MBC's website. http://www.norwichmodelboatclub.com/hms-ocean.php.  Below are some shots that show off HMS Oceans' details.

More pictures of HMS Ocean and some pictures of the boat line, the day was very well received and there was a good selection of boats on display.

Picture to the right was taken from Norwich MBC's club house which over looks their water from a single story building at one end of the water.

Some more pictures taken of the day.

HMS Ocean and
HMS Illustrious

HMS Edinburgh
a Type 42 destroyer

Picture to the left show the interest from fellow boaters and members of the public admiring the models on display.

HMS Kent a Type 23 Frigate

The first two pictures show HMS Edinburgh and HMS Illustrious on the water.  The third picture show Alan in control of HMS Kent, after having a go myself I can understand why you need to concentrate so much.  No the fourth picture isn't Alan and Peter turning religious it was some running repairs to HMS Kent that became necessary after there was a glitch with the propulsion. The fifth picture is of HMS Avenger (F185) a Type 21 frigate, this picture is of the helicopter deck at the rear of the ship.

Below from left to right, HMS Ocean, HMS Ocean and HMS Kent and finally HMS Kent going down Norwich MBC's water
