Warwick International Model Boat Show -  2009 - Gallery

Thanks to Peter Clayton for the write up and photographs.

Below are some pictures taken of our Club's stand at the Warwick International Boat Show. The pictures were taken on Thursday 5th November at the "build up" day - the light in the hall was not brilliant but nevertheless give you a good idea of how impressive HMS Kent looks, complimented by Peter Clayton, Brian Clement and Trevor Bright's models.

Cygnets MBC were invited to display at the Warwickshire International Model Boat Show because of the Club's efforts and achievements with the HMS Kent project.

The centrepiece of our display was, of course, HMS Kent and she was flanked and supported by models brought to the show by Trevor Bright, Brian Clement and myself. Also on display were two manuals with the pictures and commentary, taken from our website, of the build, launch, testing and river marathon of HMS Kent.

These manuals were complimented by A3 laminated pictures, used at the Southern Model Air Show, of the launch and initial runs, the endurance trial and pictures taken on the river marathon of HMS Kent in Hampstead Lock at Yalding, approaching Teston Lock at speed and at journey's end at Allington Lock. There were, also, two group photographs - one of the all the Club members involved in the project and the second one of everyone involved in the project, including the Sea Cadets. All this made the Cygnets MBC display layout very attractive and uncluttered.

The show opened on Friday the 6th of November and I made contact with Trevor at around lunchtime and was informed that the show was "heaving" and that they were very busy on the stand with a great deal of interest being shown in HMS Kent and its associated documentation. I did not make it to the show on the Saturday but understand a similar scenario existed. I returned to the show on the Sunday and final day of the show and again I can report that the display attracted a lot of attention and a steady stream of visitors.

On the Sunday two very important visitors to our stand; senior officials from the MPBA, namely Dave Abbot and Ken Gould, they were pictured at our stand with Alan Noble.

In addition to Trevor, Alan, Brian and myself we had visits from Club members Eddie Holstin on the Saturday and Ian Gerrard accompanied me on the Sunday. I thank them for their support.

I would like to thank Alan Noble, Trevor Bright and Brian Clement and his wife Norma for all their hard work over the three Show days and on the Thursday, "Build Up Day", prior to the Show. I would also like to thank Debbie for all our administration work prior to our arrival at Warwick.

I believe our attendance at this important model boat show put the Club and the HMS Kent project very much on the map in the world of model boating
